Veteran QB Cousins signing with Raiders, in position to be Week 1 starter

Quarterback Kirk Cousins is set to sign with the Las Vegas Raiders, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The move comes after head coach Klint Kubiak said this week he would prefer to not have a rookie starting Week 1 with Fernando Mendoza expected to be picked first overall.
Kubiak spent three seasons coaching Cousins as quarterbacks coach and then offensive coordinator of the Minnesota Vikings from 2019-2021.
The 37-year-old Cousins spent the past two seasons with the Atlanta Falcons after signing with the club prior to the 2024 season.
Cousins appeared in 10 games last season, making eight starts, and posted 1,721 passing yards, 10 touchdowns and five interceptions.
The four-time Pro Bowler has played 14 NFL seasons with the Falcons, Minnesota Vikings, and Washington Commanders, passing for 44,700 yards, 298 touchdowns, and 131 interceptions.
The Raiders quarterback room now consists of Cousins and Aidan O’Connell, with Mendoza widely expected to join the group.
More to come.
