After entering the transfer portal following her second season with Lady Vols basketball, forward Alyssa Latham has committed to her new school as a grad transfer. According to a report from Talia Goodman, Latham is joining Virginia Tech.

Latham was in her second year with the Tennessee program and will have one season of eligibility remaining. She joined Kim Caldwell’s program ahead of her first season as head coach with Roman Tubner as Latham’s primary recruiter. Latham played her freshman season at Syracuse.

Latham played in 27 games this past season and started in 16. In that span, the forward averaged 4.7 points per game on 53.9% shooting from the field and 21.1% on threes. She also added 3.4 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game.

This season, Tennessee finished 16-14 (8-8 SEC). The Lady Vols were the 6-seed in the SEC Tournament, but lost to Alabama in the second round. They earned a 10-seed in the NCAA Tournament, but lost to NC State in the Round of 64 in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

This featured an eight-game losing streak and defeats in 11 of their last 13 games to round out the year.

Now, Latham is one of six Tennessee players to announce their intention to enter the portal. Four of the five freshmen from last year’s signing class, Deniya Prawl, Lauren Hurst and Mia and Mya Pauldo, all have announced. Kaniya Boyd also joins them as players departing.

This leaves just Talaysia Cooper and freshman Jaida Civil as players yet to make an announcement on their future. UT does have two incoming freshmen signed, as well, in five-star Oliviyah Edwards and four-star Gabby Minus.
