Netflix Orders Limited Series ‘The Corrections’ Starring Meryl Streep

Netflix has ordered up the limited series “The Corrections” starring Meryl Streep, Variety has confirmed.

The show, based on the Jonathan Franzen novel of the same name, was first reported to be on the market in late 2024. Franzen will adapt his novel for the screen and executive produce, with Streep executive producing in addition to starring. Mark Roybal and Paul Lee executive produce for wiip, with Nicole Clemens executive producing as well. Cord Jefferson (“American Fiction,” “Watchmen”) will executive produce and direct all episodes. Paramount Television Studios will produce.

The official logline for the show describes it as “a sharply comic portrait of a Midwestern family whose three unmoored adult siblings desperately resist their mother’s wish for one last Christmas together – each undone by the delusional ambitions that were supposed to save them from becoming their parents.”

“The Corrections” was originally published in 2001. This is not the first attempt to adapt the book for the screen. Previously, a film version was in the works but never materialized. After that, HBO commissioned a pilot based on the book in 2011 with Chris Cooper, Dianne Wiest, and Ewan McGregor attached to star. But in 2012, it was reported that the pilot was not being picked up to series.

This is the latest TV role for Streep in recent years. She previously appeared in Seasons 3 and 4 of the hit Hulu comedy “Only Murders in the Building,” with her work on the show earning her both a Golden Globe and Emmy nomination. She has also starred in HBO’s “Big Little Lies,” which also earned her Globe and Emmy nods. Widely considered one of the greatest actresses of all time, Streep has received 21 Academy Award nominations in her career, making her the most-nominated actor of all time. She won the awards for the films “Kramer vs. Kramer,” “Sophie’s Choice,” and “The Iron Lady.”

Streep is repped by CAA and Gendler, Kelly & Cunningham. Jefferson is repped by CAA, 3 Arts and Ziffren Brittenham. Franzen is repped by The Gotham Group, Writers House, and attorney Alex Kohner.
