For the first time this decade, the Atlanta Falcons have a new look.
The team unveiled its new jerseys on Thursday, which replace the uniforms it has worn since the 2020 season.
The black jerseys that were the team’s primary home look have been replaced by red tops that harken back to the team’s pre-1990 look and will now be the primary home jersey. They will be worn with white pants.
“Red has always meant something different in Atlanta,” Matt Ryan, the team’s president of football, said in a statement. “It’s when our best football has been played, where this city has shown its heart and when I experienced the greatest moments of my career. When you put on red, you feel the history, the pride and the energy that comes with being a Falcon. Bringing it back honors what’s been built here and fueling what’s coming next, which I’m very excited for our fans to see.”
The Falcons also unveiled a white road jersey that can be worn with white or black pants, and the pants have vertical stripes that mirror the look of the team’s 1966 uniforms. The team will continue to wear black helmets as its primary look, and still has a combination of black jerseys with red helmets available as its throwback look.
The team’s helmet remains largely unchanged, although the logo will be slightly smaller and the facemask color was adjusted to a slightly more silver look.
“Our goal was to create a uniform that lasts, one that reflects the city, the team and our future,” vice president and chief marketing officer Shannon Joyner said via the team’s statement. “Every detail was designed to feel authentic to our DNA and feels unmistakably Falcons the moment you put it on.”
