‘His way of showing care’: McKercher on Clarkson’s chest punch
There was interesting vision at three-quarter time as Kangaroos coach Alastair Clarkson appeared to punch Colby McKercher in the chest.
McKercher says a lot shouldn’t be made of the exchange.
“I was disappointed I was letting the team down,” he tells Fox Footy.
“It was a forward 50 stoppage and I switched off mentally for a bit, and I think Jagga Smith kicked a goal.
“I saw him beeline straight for me at three-quarter time (and) I was like, ‘Ah, here we go’.
“Clarko and I have such a good relationship so we hugged it out after a game.
“I think it’s just his way of showing care. He’s so hard on me because he cares so much.
“He’s trying to get a response out of me to improve in that area and make better efforts in the fourth quarter.
” Like I said before, we’ve got such a good relationship, so I trust his judgement.
“Obviously he was pretty fired up there, but it’s in the heat of battle and things like that happen.
“I don’t think it should be made a big deal out of.”

Jeremy with a remix on the Blues theme song
Ah Carlton..the team that always lets you down.
– Jeremy
“We’re the team that never lets you down” doesn’t quite hit the same after these second halves unfortunately.

‘I was quite terrified’: Wardlaw on THAT tackle on Cripps
George Wardlaw laid a huge tackle on Patrick Cripps to preserve North’s lead in the dying minutes. (Getty Images)
George Wardlaw was heroic in the final quarter, especially on that late tackle on Patrick Cripps.
“It was tooth and nail, we knew it would be,” he tells Fox Footy.
“I wasn’t playing on him [Cripps], but I was quite terrified, he’s a big man. Just glad to get that win.
“I don’t think I’ve heard Marvel like that since I’ve been at the club, especially after the Sheezel goal.”

THE KANGAROOS HAVE PULLED IT OUT!
WHAT. A. CONTEST.
Give them Good Friday forever if this is what they’re going to dish up, my goodness.
The Kangaroos kick 7.3 to 2.1 in the final quarter to run out 10-point winners over Carlton.
It’s another second-half collapse of sorts for the Blues after they did such a good job to take a 22-point lead into the final change.
Michael Voss walks off the ground head down. A penny for his thoughts. How many more games will he coach Carlton in?
I want to talk about George Wardlaw for a second. He was like a man possessed in that final quarter.
He only had four touches in that final quarter, but laid three crucial tackles, including an incredible rundown effort on Cripps deep in defensive 50.
Wardlaw laid 11 tackles for the entire match, a game-high.
The loss of Weitering proved pivotal in the end, as the Kangaroos looked like scoring every time they went inside 50 without their defensive stalwart down there.
Caleb Daniel finishes the match with a game-high 27 touches, while George Hewett was Carlton’s leading ball-winner with 22 touches alongside Ben Ainsworth.
Finn O’Sullivan with another huge shutdown job, limiting Sam Walsh to just 19 touches and four clearances, while Jagga Smith was also held to just 17 touches.

Evans misses set shot after dubious free
Frankie Evans wins a free kick for high contact, but misses to the left!
North by four points with 2:13 left on the clock.
I’m not sure if that free kick was there. Ball don’t lie, as great philosopher Rasheed Wallace once said.

Time running out for the Blues, can someone be the hero?

HARRY SHEEZEL GIVES NORTH MELBOURNE THE LEAD!
A sidestep and a terrific finish on the run from North’s No.3!
The Kangaroos have hit the front with 3.33 left.

Curtis drills set shot to trim margin to one point
GAME ON AT DOCKLANDS!
A minute after missing a set shot, Paul Curtis drills this one from 50m out directly in front.
It’s an unbelivable kick inside 50 from Luke Parker, which didn’t go over 2m above ground level.
Talk about a sizzler.
Carlton leading by one point with four minutes to go.

Curtis with a big set shot miss!
Geez, Paul Curtis would back himself to kick this.
He has a set shot from 35m out on a 45 degree angle, but on the right side for a left-footer, but sprays it.
Carlton’s lead down to seven points with five minutes remaining.
The Blues have ground to an absolute halt here.

What a defensive effort from Lachlan Cowan on the goal line!
