Barnardo’s Children’s Store is shutting in Tunstall

A charity shop is shutting for good. Barnardo’s has a Barnardo’s Children’s Store on Alexandra Retail Park, in Tunstall.

But the shop is shutting for good on Friday 10 April. It is now no longer accepting donations.

In a social media post to shoppers, the branch stated: “It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that our Barnardo’s Tunstall charity shop will be closing its doors permanently on 10 April. For many years, this shop has been more than just a place to find pre-loved treasures — it has been a space filled with kindness, community spirit, and generosity. Together, we have supported Barnardo’s vital work helping children, young people, and families, and that is something we are incredibly proud of.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank every single person who has donated, shopped, volunteered, or simply stopped by for a chat. Your support has meant more than words can express and it has made a real difference.

“While this chapter is coming to an end, the impact of what we’ve built together will continue. We warmly invite you to visit us before we close, share your memories, and help us celebrate everything this little shop has stood for. Thank you for being part of our journey.”

Barnardo’s has apologised that donations can no longer be taken to the Tunstall shop. Supporters with donations are being directed to the Newcastle-under-Lyme branch, on Castle Walk.

A Barnardo’s spokesman added: “Due to the store closure, we are no longer accepting any donations. We understand this may cause an inconvenience and we are very sorry. Thank you for continuing to support children, young people and families in need.”
