Blackburn College ranked among best in the country

Blackburn College has been named one of the top performers in the country.

It was ranked number three nationally in the General Further Education category.

The college also ranked second in Lancashire for 16 to 19 achievement rates in the latest National Achievement Rate Tables (NARTs).

Dr Fazal Dad CBE, principal and chief executive of Blackburn College, said: “These results speak volumes about our ambition and direction as a college.

“To be ranked second in Lancashire and third nationally for 16–19 General Further Education is an incredible testament to the culture we continue to build.

“Our students strive for excellence, our staff go above and beyond, and together we’re shaping an organisation that delivers meaningful outcomes for every learner who walks through our doors.”

The NARTs are published annually by the UK Government and track the percentage of learners who successfully complete their courses.

They are used throughout the further education sector to benchmark performance and quality.

Rachel Tarplee, Vice Principal (Curriculum & Quality), said: “Achievements on this scale don’t happen by chance.

“It comes from a strong curriculum, outstanding teachers, industry-leading facilities, and a commitment to ensuring every student progresses to a positive next step.

“Whether that’s university, employment, higher apprenticeships or training.

“I’m immensely proud of our staff and students and the plethora of opportunities we create for our learners every day.”
