‘The Young and the Restless’ actress dead at 66 after cancer battle: ‘No more pain’

Dee Freeman, an actress who appeared in “The Young and the Restless,” has died.
She was 66.
Her family shared the news of her passing on her Instagram page.
“On behalf of her family, it is with deepest sadness that we shared this update with you,” the post read. “Dee passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026 after a brave and fearless fight with cancer. Thank you to everyone who supported Dee during her battle. It blew her away to know how many people cared about her and were pulling for her.
“We know Dee is up there in heaven being the force of nature she always was,” the statement added. “Now she’s doing it with her angel wings on. Rest in peace, Dee.”
Freeman had a long list of credits.
She also appeared in Tyler Perry’s “Sistas,” as well as “Reasonable Doubt,” “NCIS: Los Angeles,” “Shameless,” “Pretty the Series,” “Dexter,” “Bones,” ““Crossing Jordan,” “The Shield,” “Six Feet Under,” “ER,” “The X-Files,” and “The Hughleys.”
Friends and followers were quick to send condolences and remembrances of her accomplished career.
“I am so heartbroken,” Desirae Brockington replied. “Dee was a true gem and as her publicist I watched her growth, her elevation and how she lit up every room she entered!! No more pain, I’m comforted knowing she is free. Her energy is here forever, her soul lives on always. My condolences to you, the family, her friends and the entertainment community that she so beautifully touched with her talent, wit, and genuine love for her craft. Dee will be missed!!!!!”
“Oh, Ms. Dee,” Brian Jordan Jr. replied. “Thank you for your beautiful energy and the light you brought to Sistas. Prayers to the family. We will always speak your name.”
