Road closures in effect to make way for 60th annual Toronto Beaches Lions Club Easter Parade

A few major streets in Toronto’s east end are set to be closed on Sunday in order to make way for the annual Toronto Beaches Lions Club Easter Parade.

The 60th annual parade starts at 2 p.m., kicking off at Queen Street East and Munroe Park Avenue before continuing along toward Woodbine Avenue, Lake Shore Boulevard East to Coxwell Avenue.

Though the whole event will take around two hours in the afternoon, Toronto Police are advising drivers to be aware of the full and partial road closures in the area throughout the day.

These are the road closures that will be in effect Sunday:

  • From 10 a.m. until noon, Queen Street East from Munroe Park Avenue to Fallingbrook Road will be partially closed
  • From 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., Queen Street East from Munroe Park Avenue to Fallingbrook Road will be fully closed, as well as Nursewood Road from Queen Street East to 24 Nursewood Rd.
  • From 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Queen Street East from Woodbine Avenue to Fallingbrook Road will be fully closed
  • From 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Woodbine Avenue from Queen Street East to Lake Shore Boulevard East, as well as Lake Shore Boulevard East from Coxwell to Woodbine avenues will be fully closed

There are a number of transit lines that are being temporarily rerouted as a result of the Beaches Easter Parade.

Commuters looking to take either the 92 Woodbine South bus, the 64 Main bus, or the 501 Queen streetcar will want to check the TTC’s website to see what stops will not be served during the parade.

The parade will take place rain-or-shine.

Environment Canada forecasts a high of 7 C for Toronto this Easter Sunday, with mainly cloudy skies and a 60 per cent chance of rain.
