West Ham fans are desperate to see Axel Disasi sign for the club on a permanent basis this summer and now comments he made to a journalist about his future have been revealed.

If the Hammers secure Premier League survival in the last seven games, Axel Disasi will have been key to it all.

West Ham have been transformed defensively since signing French centre-back Disasi on loan from Chelsea.

His fitness, form, fight and passion have quickly endeared him to Hammers supporters while helping the side close to within one point of safety.

Disasi refuses to close the door on permanent West Ham move

They say never fall in love with a loan player – but try telling West Ham fans that when it comes to Disasi.

The Hammers faithful know staying up will be key to any hope the club has of retaining the 28-year-old’s services on a permanent basis this summer.

But Disasi has dropped a hint on his West Ham future as a message to a journalist is revealed.

Disasi has been a rock for the Hammers since swapping west for east London on deadline day in the winter window.

His form is made all the more remarkable by the fact he had not played a competitive game since last April prior to his arrival at the London Stadium.

The signing was actually greeted with scepticism and disapproval from many Hammers fans who felt he would be too rusty to make an impact given his lack of game time.

That couldn’t be any further from the truth, though, and Disasi has also brought much-needed leadership to a backline that was sorely lacking any.

It could also be argued he has helped bring the best out of Konstantinos Mavropanos and Jean-Clair Todibo too.

West Ham will likely need three – possibly four – wins from their remaining seven games in order to stay in the Premier League.

Disasi told journalist he is enjoying it at West Ham and when he will make a decision on staying

Achieve that and fans want the club’s first order of business to be signing Disasi permanently.

The big question then is whether he would be open to the move.

According to The Athletic’s West Ham reporter Roshane Thomas, Disasi has not ruled it out – and will make a decision if and when the club retains its Premier League status.

Thomas has revealed the real reason Chelsea did not include a purchase option in the deal with the Hammers – because they believed he would shine and raise his price tag as a result.

But Disasi has told Thomas he is ‘enjoying his time at West Ham’ and will make a decision at the end of the season.

“The 28-year-old has impressed alongside Mavropanos and is enjoying his time in east London,” Thomas states.

“But the five-time France international wants to wait until the end of the current campaign before deciding his next move.

“His contract at Chelsea expires in the summer of 2029.”

What Disasi’s increased valuation would mean for West Ham remains to be seen.

Survival is of paramount importance in any season – but even more so this term after the Hammers announced club record £104m losses in their latest accounts.

On top of that West Ham also owe a whopping £196m in transfer fees to other clubs.

So the summer budget, regardless of whether they retain their top-flight status, may be impacted.

If there is money to spend, though, West Ham could do a lot worse than invest a reasonable chunk of it into securing Disasi’s services.

Especially as he proves to be the long-awaited replacement for Craig Dawson and Kurt Zouma.
