At least seven people have been injured after a hotel ceiling collapsed on Easter Sunday.
The horrific incident occurred at Poseidón Palace, a popular tourist hotel in Benidorm. Chunks of plasterboard and air conditioning ducts plummeted onto approximately 60 guests who were dining at the hotel.
Emergency services raced to the scene and confirmed that amongst the casualties was an eight-year-old boy and a 78-year-old man who were taken to hospital but subsequently released following treatment.

CICU officials deployed SAMU medical units alongside basic life support and non-assisted transport teams to manage the incident. Red Cross staff helped care for those affected during the chaotic scenes at the renowned Costa Blanca resort.
At present, the cause of the collapse at the three-star establishment remains unknown – though this isn’t the first such incident to affect Benidorm’s hotel industry. The beloved coastal resort in Spain is renowned for its bustling nightlife, extensive selection of accommodation and high-rises, golden beaches and much more. It’s a favoured destination for numerous hen and stag dos, while others celebrate the Old Town and splendour of its pristine, dramatic coastlines which contrast sharply with the more commonly recognised imagery linked to Benidorm.
The yearly report from Visit Benidorm revealed that in 2025, the Spanish destination attracted over three million tourists with an estimated 900,000 arriving from the UK.
The Mirror has approached Poseidón Palace for comment but has not yet received a response.
