Birmingham City have reported increased revenues in their latest accounts, which have been submitted but are not yet visible on Companies House.
The figures include the period from July 2024 to June 30, 2025 when the club was in League One having been relegated from the Championship just a few weeks earlier.
Blues have provided an update from chief executive Jeremy Dale on their website, during which their increased income was highlighted but no mention of costs was made.
Dale described the 12 month period as ‘a very positive year’ and claims ‘strong progress and continued momentum’ albeit only half the picture can be seen at this stage.
The update reads: “We reported Revenues of £35.6m is the highest ever for a League One team excluding Parachute Payment clubs.
“Overall revenue grew £7m, the first time in the modern era that a club has grown revenues having been relegated to League One.
“Our own revenue generating activities rose £13m, fully offsetting the £6m decline in broadcast revenues that came with our relegation to League One. Commercial revenues grew £9m and matchday revenues £4m.
“The support we enjoyed from our fans was extraordinary. Record Season Ticket sales surpassed 18,000—a 50% rise on the previous year…
“We invested in creating our Fan Zones and Fan Park, and the response was exceptional, driving significant growth in Food & Beverage sales.”
Dale added that owners Knighthead’s investment in St Andrew’s and their two training grounds in Henley-in-Arden and Wast Hills totalled £20m, in addition to the £26m ploughed in the previous year and says: “The investment confirms Knighthead’s intent and commitment to deliver those goals.
“Major investments were also made in the Academy to achieve Category 1 status. This will help ensure a strong pipeline of local talent for the future. This will strengthen both the first team and drive profit from player sales.

“In our 24/25 accounts we reported player trading profits of £14m…which primarily came from the sale of Jordan James, Romelle Donovan and sell on fees from Jude and Jobe Bellingham…
“This year’s accounts send a strong statement that we have made significant strides to becoming one of the top revenue generating clubs outside of the Premier League…
“Please be reassured that these accounts clearly demonstrate that the drive for commercial growth that is so fundamental to delivering our ambitions is well on course. Everyone at the club continues to push on to deliver the ambition that Tom Wagner and Knighthead have outlined.”
Whether Blues’ player trading numbers do indeed turn out to be a profit remains to be seen given the fact they parted with around £14m on Jay Stansfield alone during the reporting period. They also signed the likes of Christoph Klarer and Willum Willumsson.
