Super 16 college softball rankings: NiJaree Canady, Texas Tech move take over at No. 1

Time to see if Texas Tech can hold onto the top spot.
Not all that long ago, The Oklahoman‘s College Softball Super 16 had a stalwart at No. 1. Tennessee held the top spot for five consecutive weeks, but then the Volunteers started stumbling, losing back-to-back series to Florida and Ole Miss.

Texas took over at No. 1, but now, the Longhorns are the ones who are stumbling. They have lost three of their last four games, including two of three during this past weekend’s series at Alabama.

Into the chaos at the top steps Texas Tech, who takes over the top spot this week.
The Red Raiders enter the week with a 38-2 record and a 13-game winning streak. This past week, they not only won four games but also won all by run-rule. Texas Tech swept through a mid-week game against Abilene Christian and a weekend series against BYU by a combined score of 42-7.

Things seem to be going quite well in Lubbock.
