What Javier Colon Has Been Up to Since Winning the Very First Season of The Voice

While dozens of dynamite powerhouses have claimed the glory over the years on The Voice, only one has the honor of being the inaugural champion: the unforgettable Javier Colon.

How to Watch

Watch The Voice Mondays at 9/8c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

When Colon first stepped onto the stage of The Voice in 2011, the series was still an experiment, one that would quickly become a cultural mainstay, thanks to Coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, CeeLo Green, and Christina Aguilera, and a dynamite lineup of rising stars setting the bar high. Colon, a soulful singer-songwriter with a gentle tone and undeniable passion behind every note, made an immediate impression during his Blind Audition of “Time After Time,” joining Team Adam and carving out a lane in the Season 1 competition that was entirely his own.

Colon was a frontrunner from the jump, so it was no surprise when he claimed the show’s first-ever victory, setting the tone for what life-changing success on the NBC competition could look like. It’s been many years since Colon became The Voice‘s first-ever champion, and the vocal powerhouse is returning to the series to compete in an epic All-Star Showdown among champions. Who will dare to stand up to The Voice‘s O.G. winner?

Javier Colon has taken his epic talent on tour

As soon as Colon seized the Season 1 crown, he hit the ground running by taking his larger-than-life talent on the road. Directly following his incredible Voice tenure, Colon joined Levine on tour with Maroon 5 and Train for 2011’s Summer Tour, and reunited with Maroon 5 as a headliner for their 2012 Hands All Over and Overexposed tours.

Colon continues to perform all over the globe, recently performing sets in Mexico and Barbados as part of the 2025 Barbados Jazz Excursion lineup, delivering a rousing performance of his cherished original “Gravity.” Colon keeps fans updated about his latest performances on various social media channels, frequently sharing highlights from his latest performance or passion project.

Javier Colon has continued to release powerhouse music

Before his historic run on The Voice, Colon released two albums under the mononym Javier, including his self-titled 2003 debut, which featured his chart-topping hit “Crazy,” as well as the 2006 album Left of Center. Many of Colon’s performances on The Voice went on the chart, such as his cover of Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror,” and after his victory, he released his third album to date, 2012’s Come Through For You. Colon’s most recent studio release was his 2016 album Gravity.

“I am really excited about it,” Colin told Extra while chatting up the album. “I was able to put together a bunch of songs that I really feel reflect who I am as an artist, and I really had a lot of creative control… I really am proud of it, and I can’t wait to share it with everyone.”

In the years since, Colon has released several singles, such as 2017’s “The Moon and More” and “Clear the Air.” Colon’s love for a dynamite cover track continues, as he frequently collaborates with other iconic vocalists online to deliver rousing renditions of soulful classics and viral hits alike.
