According to Screen Rant, D’Onofrio said, in response to a fan on X, that Jon Bernthal won’t return as the Punisher in season 2 of the series because the actor was “busy” starring in a Disney+ television special and “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.”

However, the site adds the Punisher’s story, which left off with his escape from Fisk’s Anti-Vigilante Task Force, will continue with an hour-long Disney+ special, titled “Punisher: One Last Kill,” on May 12.

Who is Mr. Charles in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’?

Mathew Lillard, known for his roles in “Scream” and the “Scooby-Doo” franchise, is the actor playing Mr. Charles, a new character that entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe during the season 2 premiere of “Daredevil: Born Again.”

According to Screen Rant, Mr. Charles is a “powerful figure” in the MCU and was sent from Langley to New York by his boss, Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, to “help Fisk clean up the public disaster so that she can continue using his port.”

However, the site adds Mr. Charles might not be Lillard’s real identity in the show, as the character is only mentioned in a single issue of the comics. Instead, the name could be used to cover up the character’s true identity, which could be a “much bigger deal for comics readers,” Screen Rant writes.
