Jack White to play one of few Metro Detroit venues he’s never played

The Detroit rocker will check a big local amphitheater off his list this summer.

Jack White will perform at Pine Knob on July 25, promoters announced Thursday, and if that sounds like a first for the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, it’s because it is.

The Detroit rocker has checked the majority of major Metro Detroit venues off his list at one point or another, either as a solo performer or with the White Stripes, the Raconteurs or the Dead Weather.

But Pine Knob will be a first for the 50-year-old, who last week released two new singles, “G.O.D. And the Broken Ribs” and “Derecho Demonico.” He performed them both on last weekend’s “Saturday Night Live,” on which he appeared with his fellow Jack, Jack Black.

Tickets for the Pine Knob show go on sale April 17 via Ticketmaster; pre-sale tickets go on sale beginning at 10 a.m. Monday.

The show is part of a round of North American dates announced Thursday. White is also touring Europe and Asia this summer, and kicks off his tour May 30 in Sigulda, Latvia.

Looking back at past concerts from White, here’s a list of major area venues he’s played over the last 25 years, after graduating from club shows at venues like the Gold Dollar and the Magic Stick:
