Right-wing podcast host Megyn Kelly, who spent months campaigning for Donald Trump during the 2024 presidential election, now says the president is “too gullible to see through the lies” being told to him over Iran.

“What led Trump, at 79 years old, to sit in there, in that situation room, where Bibi Netanyahu was seated as an equal?” she fumed, in an interview with British commentator Piers Morgan on Wednesday. “What led him to sit there and buy what that guy was selling hook, line, and sinker when every other president was able to see through that liar?”

Kelly, a former Fox News host, continued: “I don’t know why he was too weak to say no… He was too gullible to see through the lies. One way or another, he allowed himself to be pushed into this insane conflict.”

The joint military operations by the U.S. and Israel began on February 28 and have now entered their second month, with a fragile two-week ceasefire currently in place.

Kelly, despite her support for Trump, has seemingly flip-flopped over his approach and threats in the Middle East.

On Tuesday, Trump threatened on social media that “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again,” if his demands for Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz were not met. “I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will,” before backtracking.

The post prompted outrage on both sides of the political spectrum, including from MAGA stalwarts such as former congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, and Kelly.

“I am sick of this s***. Can’t Trump just behave like a normal human?” she said on The Megyn Kelly Show, in response. “Shut up. We are talking about threatening to wipe out innocent civilians casually in a social media post. This is completely irresponsible and disgusting.”

Those remarks came in direct contrast to ones just a day previously, in which she told a guest on her show: “Trump could drop a nuke and I’d still vote Republican over Democrat.”

The Independent has contacted Kelly’s representatives for comment.

In the closing days of the 2024 presidential campaign, Kelly appeared onstage in Pennsylvania with Trump and urged people to vote for him – calling him a “protector of women,” despite challenging him over his alleged misogynistic views eight years earlier during the 2016 presidential campaign.

“I prefer a president who understands how to be strong and how to fight. I hope all of you do what I did last week. Vote Trump and get ten friends to vote Trump,” Kelly said at the Pennsylvania event.

Those remarks came after Kelly had savaged a Trump rally held in Madison Square Garden, in New York, a week prior, describing it as “bro-tastic.”
