MINNEAPOLIS — Detroit Tigers center fielder Parker Meadows was carted off the field and taken to a hospital after colliding with left fielder Riley Greene in the eighth inning of Thursday afternoon’s 3-1 loss to the Minnesota Twins.

Converging on a Josh Bell fly ball in the left-center-field gap, the outfielders knocked heads running at full speed and Meadows’ left arm also appeared to be injured.

Greene successfully made the catch and remained in the game unscathed, but Meadows went down immediately with blood on his face and stayed down for several minutes.

Meadows was eventually helped to his feet by the Tigers’ training staff and Target Field’s medical personnel, and was able to gingerly walk a few steps before getting onto a cart and being driven off the field.

After the game, a fully conscious Meadows was seen being taken on a stretcher to a Minneapolis hospital, with his left arm in a sling. Per the Tigers, he’s expected to remain in Minnesota overnight for observation.
