Another hydraulic fluid spill shuts down service on a section of Line 2

Another hydraulic fluid spill has shut down subway service on a large section of Line 2 on Friday morning days after a similar incident caused a major service disruption on the line.

The TTC says the incident happened at around 3 a.m. and there is currently no service between Ossington and Woodbine stations.

Shuttle buses are running to supplement service.

This is the second time this week that a hydraulic oil spill has halted service on a section of the Bloor-Danforth Line.

TTC CEO Mandeep Lali previously apologized to riders after a spill at Old Mill Station shut down subway service for several hours between Kipling and Jane stations on Tuesday. At that time, the TTC vowed to investigate the incident to prevent future, similar service disruptions.

“This morning, we let our customers down. I am truly sorry. We know many of you rely on TTC to get to work, school, and essential commitments. When we fall short, the impact is immediate and personal,” Lali said on Tuesday.

“I understand the frustration and disruption this has caused, especially at the start of the day when reliability matters most.”

The TTC has not said when customers can expect regular service to be restored on the line.
