Normally a reunion like this gets a positive reaction, and maybe this will too — as we’re frequently reminded, people have short memories and love nostalgia. But this former TNA World champ hasn’t exactly grown his fanbase with the edgelord-y persona he developed after his WWE run ended, or the Control Your Narrative promotion he launched in a similar spirit, then aligned with the NWA before leaving Billy Corgan’s promotion earlier this year.
There are hints of that character in the posts EC3’s been making lately all-but-announcing his return, but he’s also leaning heavily into the entitled-nephew-of-the-former-owner Ethan Carter III character he played in TNA from 2013-2018.
