Nuno Espirito Santo admits that West Ham United star Konstantinos Mavropanos has taken him by surprise somewhat.
Mavropanos bagged a brace for the Irons as West Ham United beat Wolves 4-0 to pull themselves out of the relegation zone in the Premier League for a few hours at least.

The defender has been on a purple patch in front of goal of late. The Greek international has three goals in his last three league games, while he also netted a penalty in the FA Cup win over Brentford last month.
Mavropanos is in brilliant form defensively for West Ham but Nuno has admitted his prowess from attacking positions has come as something of a shock.

Asked if he ever saw this run coming during Friday’s post-match press conference, Nuno said: “Nobody knew. We are delighted. I hope it continues.”
West Ham do have attackers upon which to rely in the form of Jarrod Bowen and the fit-again Crysencio Summerville.

Still, if they are to stay up during a relegation battle that looks set to drag on until the end of the season, they need players all over the pitch to step up.
With that in mind, seeing Mavropanos get himself among the goals has been brilliant. Literally every player from here on in has to go above and beyond right now, and that’s exactly what the defender is doing.
For context, the defender had only ever scored 14 goals across his entire career until this run.

The way in which Mavropanos has turned his career here in east London around has been fantastic and he is one of the many embodiments of the team’s rapid-fire improvement since January.
If West Ham stay up, he will have played a starring role and should go down in folklore.
West Ham are lucky to have him in their ranks.
