Game three of three with the Twins.
Yesterday, I mentioned driving to Minneapolis , that we were slowed at the border. Because of sitting at the border for two hours and kind of being mentally tired after the grillign, we didn’t get as far afterwards as we hoped. We ended up stopping at Minot, North Dakota.
We found a hotel fairly quickly. It was new, just built, but the room price seemed very high to us. So we spent some time looking for something cheaper. There wasn’t anything, all the hotels were full. Minot was in the middle of a oil boom and hotels were filled with oil workers. So back to the first hotel, paid more for a room there that you would in downtown Toronto at that time.
Anyway, by now it was 7 or 7:30 and we hadn’t eaten since lunch in Canada. There was a steakhouse in the parking lot of the hotel. Went in, and we were told they were closing. They didn’t sit people after 7:00. I was confused but off we go looking for somewhere else to eat. We found the same news at several places. Finally found an Applebee’s still open. It was….well, I haven’t been to an Applebee’s since, and won’t ever again.
Again, the problem was it was hard to find people to work for restaurant wages with oil jobs aplenty.
