Another tribute? Masters pin on 17 in same spot as Jack’s win in 1986

Another year, another iconic pin location?
Four decades after Jack Nicklaus holed an 11-footer on No. 17 to gain sole possession of the lead, the Masters Tournament has chosen a similar pin location in 2026.
According to the Sunday pin location sheet, the flag at No. 17 will be 20 feet deep and five paces from the right — alike to 1986.
Forty years ago, Nicklaus raised his putter on No. 17, prompting a “Yes, sir!” from CBS broadcaster Verne Lundquist.
Last April, on the 50th anniversary of 1975, the pin placement on the 16th hole mirrored where Nicklaus famously holed his 40-foot birdie putt.
