FTR avenged their past loss against Cope & Cage on Sunday night to retain the AEW World Tag Team Championships.
Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler won in their rematch against Adam Copeland & Christian Cage as part of Sunday night’s AEW Dynasty pay-per-view from the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
The champs put Copeland in a two-on-one situation late in the match after a hurt Cage was dumped into the timekeeper’s area. While Copeland fought hard to try and overcome the odds in front of his home country supporters, levelling FTR with a double-spear at one point, he eventually was put away with a Shatter Machine.
Cope and Cage tried to get past loads of antics from FTR throughout the match. The champs used a chair and one of their tag belts as a weapon at one point, the latter opening a significant cut on Copeland’s head late in the contest. Manager Stokely Hathaway was also interfering at times, peeling Cage off the ring apron at one point to prevent a move.
FTR has carried AEW’s tag titles for over 140 days.
They initially captured the AEW Tag Team Championships at Full Gear 2025, taking down the Brodido duo of Brody King and Bandido. The win made them the second-ever team to begin a third reign with the titles, following in the footsteps of the Young Bucks.
Copeland and Cage returned at Revolution last month, attacking FTR following their successful title victory over the Young Bucks, looking for revenge after getting wronged by the duo last year.
While Cage and Copeland won a non-title match over FTR at last year’s All Out event in Toronto, they suffered a brutal post-match beatdown from the team. In a moment that made the rivalry even more personal, the duo also attacked Copeland’s wife, Beth Phoenix.
Copeland and Cage reunited as a tag team in 2025, going from rivals to allies. While not aligned on their goals, the duo agreed to team up in order to take down their rivals.
