Most flooded roads open this morning

While Chippewa Street is open, motorists should be aware that sand remains on the roadway
Cleanup efforts are continuing this morning after heavy rainfall yesterday caused Chippewa Creek to overflow its banks and flood surrounding streets and basements.
All roads have reopened except for Duke Street between Wyld Street and Fisher Street, which remains closed this morning to allow for sand and debris removal.
“While Chippewa Street is open, motorists should be aware that sand remains on the roadway. Crews will be conducting cleanup across all affected areas over the coming days.”
Lee’s Road has been closed to local traffic only due to some damage from yesterday’s flooding. The road is expected to reopen later this morning with flaggers in place.
Motorists and pedestrians are asked to proceed with caution in these areas and be mindful of City crews as cleanup operations get underway.
Yesterday’s flooding closed many roads, including Fisher Street, a main city thoroughfare, and overwhelmed the City’s sewage treatment plant. All side streets within the area bounded by King Street, Chippewa Street, Cassells Street, and Fisher Street were closed to local traffic due to rising water levels and localized flooding.
