A major spoiler is making the rounds ahead of AEW Dynamite, and it points to a possible huge title change involving Darby Allin.
AEW World Champion MJF is set to defend his title against Darby Allin on the April 15 episode of Dynamite, but according to a new report, there is growing belief backstage that Allin’s long-awaited championship moment could finally happen.
Fightful Select reports that sources inside AEW believe Darby Allin is being lined up to win the AEW World Championship either tonight or sometime in the coming weeks. The idea of putting the title on Allin has reportedly been discussed internally, making this more than just fan speculation.
“Sources within AEW that we have spoken to believe that Darby Allin is winning the AEW World Championship either tonight or in the coming weeks. The subject has been discussed and pitched within All Elite Wrestling, at the very least.”
The possibility of Allin winning the title isn’t new either. According to the report, AEW has looked at giving him the championship multiple times over the past few years, showing that he has remained in the mix as a potential top champion.
“Darby Allin was discussed as possibly winning the championship multiple times in the past couple of years.”
Of course, as with any wrestling plans, nothing is guaranteed. The report also noted that plans can still shift at any time depending on creative direction.
“As always plans can change.”
With Allin now challenging MJF on Dynamite following his win over Andrade El Idolo to earn the shot at Dynasty, the timing of this report has fans watching even closer. If the title does change hands, it would mark one of the biggest moments of Allin’s AEW career and a major shift at the top of the company.
