‘Children Of Blood And Bone’: Gina Prince-Bythewood Teases Movie

At CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Thursday, Paramount offered a first look at Children of Blood and Bone, its adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s fantasy novel directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood.
Adapted for the screen by Prince-Bythewood and Adeyemi, Children of Blood and Bone is set in an African fantasy kingdom where a young woman goes on a quest to reclaim the magic that was violently stolen from her people. She and her brother ally with the daughter and son of the king to fight back against his brutal rule.
Footage unveiled today exclusively for the room showed a power struggle brewing in between the forces of good, who prospered in a stunning magical kingdom of woods and water, and those who want to root it out. “A great power, once brought peace and balance to the land, but one night they took it away from us.” It turns to war.
Prince-Bythewood was on hand to promote the film along with cast members Thuso Mbedu, Damson Idris, Amandla Stenberg, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Regina King. In full costume and to rhythmic music, each stepped forward on stage to say what attracted them to the movie.
