There will be a number of changes to services in Birmingham next month

A number of National Express bus routes will be affected next month as a result of HS2.
From May 10, there will be changes to a number of Birmingham routes, while HS2 works take place on Saltley Viaduct.
The current bridge is not tall enough for HS2 to travel underneath, so a new viaduct is being built to support the area’s future transport needs.

Bus services may be affected for up to 18 months because of the viaduct’s closure.
Passengers were encouraged to plan their journey in advance as it may take more time to travel.

The first set of services affected are the 8A and 8C routes. There will be no change to the frequency of the routes from next month.
Services on the 8C towards Aston will divert from Adderley Road, continue to Washwood Heath Road, left Aston Church Road, left Heartlands Parkway and rejoin the normal line of route after the junction with Saltley Viaduct.
The 8A service to Bordesley Green will follow the reverse route of the 8C.
The 14 service heading towards Birmingham will divert from Alum Rock Road, left Adderley Road, right Duddeston Mill Road, and re-join the normal line of route after the junction with Devon Street.
Devon Street, Alderflat Place and Mainstream Way will not be served during this time.
The 14 service towards Chelmsley Wood will follow the reverse of the above route. All bus stops will be served on the diversion route.
Finally, services 94 & 95 will be affected by the closure.
Routes towards Birmingham will divert from Washwood Heath Road, right Aston Church Road, left Heartlands Parkway and rejoin the normal line of route after the junction with Saltley Viaduct.
For the services heading towards Chelmsley Wood, buses will follow the reverse of the above route.
Customers wishing to travel to or from Saltley Gate will need to change to services 8A & 8C at Washwood Heath Road or Nechells Parkway.
