Adele is eyeing up a new career move that could see her go back into the recording studio. It comes five years after her smash hit album 30 topped the charts.

London-born megastar Adele, 37, is at a loose end after she wrapped up her sell-out Las Vegas residency which ran for two years. Now, the star has bowed out of the spotlight, instead choosing to focus on time with her child.

But now, sources close to the Hometown Glory singer have said she is looking at a possible shift in her career. This is now set to coincide with the release of her latest body of musical work, although Adele has neither confirmed nor denied the claims.

According to the Daily Mail, Cockney queen Adele is now looking to make her debut on screen as an actress in a new Hollywood flick. She is set to star in Tom Ford’s upcoming film Cry to Heaven, starring alongside fellow Brits Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Nicholas Hoult.

The film is due to be an adaptation of Anne Rice’s iconic novel from 1982 which tells the lives of opera singers who have been castrated in Italy during the 1700s. And to add to the drama of the film, Adele is reportedly set to record a single exclusively for the score.

Speaking to the Sun, an insider revealed: “The movie is steeped in the opera world, so naturally, they wanted the world’s most famous singer involved. When she finally agreed to record a track, the producers were ecstatic. Getting new material from Adele is like gold dust.

“But she is absolutely determined to prove she has the acting chops on camera to match her powerhouse vocals,” the source added. Another insider said that acting is now the new plan for the Skyfall songstress.

“The truth is, an acting career is vastly more conducive to family life than being a touring musician, film sets offer a structured routine,” the pal said. “You shoot for a few months in one location, you do the press, and then you are done.”

Mum-of-one Adele, has said that she is not a big fan of touring her music, admitting that she prefers residencies where she is based in one place for a long time. Her recent concerts have included a two-year long Las Vegas stint, as well as a custom-built stadium built for Adele to perform in Munich.

Speaking on why she chose to do the residency in the US, she explained the decision was that she could keep her son’s life as normal as possible. “I also wouldn’t change it for the world, but I get to be with him on the weekends now because obviously he can’t always come,” she said.

Addressing her fans, she went on to thank her listeners for being “patient with her”, adding: “I just don’t know when I want to next come on stage. And it’s time to move on. It’s time for the next chapter and it’s time for the next season of my life.”
