Red Sox Lineup Vs. Tigers: Three-Time All-Star Returns Following Back Injury

Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora said on Wednesday that despite suffering a back injury in Tuesday’s game vs. the Minnesota Twins, first baseman Willson Contreras would likely return to the lineup for Friday’s series opener against the Detroit Tigers.
That is indeed the case.
“Back home & back in the Fenway Greens!” the Red Sox’s official account posted on Bluesky.

Contreras was pulled from Tuesday’s contest in the fifth inning with the back ailment and he sat out the team’s 9-5 win over the Twins on Wednesday.
Boston was off on Thursday.
The 33-year-old veteran has had a strong start to his Red Sox career, entering Friday with a team-high 11 walks, as well as three home runs, which is tied for the most on the team.
