Thomas Frank in Portugal after Tottenham departure – Turning down new job offers

Udine, Italy – August 13, 2025: Thomas Frank of Tottenham seen in action during the UEFA Super Cup 2025 between Paris Saint-Germain FC and Tottenham Hotspur FC at the Friuli Bluenergy Stadium in Udine
Thomas Frank doesn’t appear destined for a quick return to football after leaving Tottenham. Instead, he’s using his spare time to visit some old friends.
Tipsbladet report on the former Tottenham manager today and a recent trip to Portugal to link up with some former colleagues.
Time off after Tottenham
Thomas Frank has been out of work since the middle of February after Tottenham decided to bring his disastrous time in charge to an end.
He was appointed at Spurs last summer following Ange Postecoglou’s departure but only lasted 38 games in all competitions, with a points per game ratio of 1.29.
The 52-year-old has remained quiet since, particularly as Tottenham continue to sink towards relegation to the Championship. It seems, though, the Danish coach is remaining busy during his time off.
Tipsbladet report that while Frank has ‘not made much noise’ since his farewell, he’s been on his holidays to Portugal. He recently visited CD Mafra, where Per Rud and Herink Lehm work. Kim Hallberg from DBU was also at the club.
“Great to meet again and show off our facilities and share our vision for CD Mafra,” CD Mafra’s General Manager, Per Rud, wrote on LinkedIn.
“Thomas Frank, Kim Hallberg, Henrik Lehm and the undersigned have maintained their friendship since we worked together at Brøndby.”
Friends reunited
The former Tottenham manager worked with Per Rud at Brøndby IF from 2013-2016. Rud was sports director at the time. At the same time, Henrik Lehm was around Masterclass, while Kim Hallberg was Team Manager at the West Danish club.
Now there was room in the calendar to visit his old colleagues. In fact, his agent, Allan Bak, insists Thomas Frank has pulled the plug on moves to visit friends and family. Portugal fits into that.
“Thomas has plenty of time here now,” explained Rud.
“We always tend to meet a couple of times a year, when it suits. When we are together, the mood is high. It was a free space where we could have fun, eat good food, play games and soak up the sun.
