Cold air moves in by Monday morning

Sunday showers ending with colder air moving in
INTO THE SUMMER. RYAN CHANDLER, NBC NEWS EXPERT ADVICE. ALL RIGHT, JIM, YOU’RE THE EXPERT HERE. WE’VE GOT SOME RAIN AND WE’VE GOT A LOT OF FUN HEADED TODAY WITH FRENCH QUARTER FEST. WHAT CAN WE EXPECT? I’M GLAD TO SAY THAT THE FORECAST THAT WE’VE KIND OF BEEN TELLING YOU OVER THE LAST 2 OR 3 DAYS, WE KNEW IT WAS GOING TO RAIN THIS MORNING. THAT’S RIGHT. BUT IT LOOKS LIKE THE RAIN SHOULD BE ENDING BY THE LATE MORNING. SO THE AFTERNOON IS GOING TO BE DRY, BUT IT’S GOING TO BE COOL. YOU CAN SEE THE WINDS BEHIND ME, THE WAVES CRASHING ASHORE ON A PONTCHARTRAIN CONSERVANCY CAMERA. AND HERE’S THE RAIN. IT’S ALREADY OVERTAKEN MUCH OF THE NORTH SHORE GETTING READY TO MOVE INTO THE METRO HERE IN THE NEXT HALF HOUR TO 45 MINUTES. OH, WE’VE HAD A COUPLE OF LIGHT PASSING SHOWERS HERE SINCE ABOUT 5 A.M., BUT HERE’S THE HEAVIEST RAIN MAKING ITS WAY INTO THE NORTH SHORE. AND I THINK THE NORTH SHORE. NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS, YOU’RE GOING TO HAVE RAIN. GRANTED, IT’S PROBABLY GOING TO GET LIGHTER AFTER ABOUT 745 THIS MORNING, BUT HERE’S THE AREA OF RAIN THAT’S GOING TO BE AFFECTING THE METRO BETWEEN ABOUT 730 AND I THINK ABOUT 1030, MAYBE EVEN A LINGERING SHOWER AT 11 A.M. BUT THE AFTERNOON DOES LOOK DRY. ALL RIGHT. 54 OUR CURRENT TEMPERATURE IN BOGALUSA AS WE DEFINITELY HAVE COOLER AIR ALREADY IN PLACE. 54 IN HAMMOND, 58 OUR CURRENT TEMPERATURE IN SLIDELL. THE DEW POINT TEMPERATURE HAS COME DOWN SIGNIFICANTLY BECAUSE OF THIS NORTHERLY WIND. TEN, 20, EVEN 24MPH. AND WE’RE GOING TO SEE SOME WIND GUSTS IN EXCESS OF 30 THIS AFTERNOON. SO IF YOU ARE GOING TO FRENCH QUARTER FEST, I WOULD SAY BUNDLE UP. AND I’M NOT OVEREXAGGERATING HERE BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH THE HIGH TEMPERATURES ARE GOING TO BE IN THE LOW 70S, IT’S GOING TO BE BREEZY, IF NOT WINDY. WIND GUSTS UP NEAR 30. I THINK THAT’S LONG PANTS AND JACKET WEATHER. YOU CAN ALWAYS PUT THE JACKET AROUND THE WAIST IF YOU WANT, BUT WITH THE WIND IT’S GOING TO FEEL CHILLY ALL AFTERNOON, EARLY, SOMEWHAT CHILLY. DEW POINT RIGHT NOW 55 AS WE HAVE A LIGHT SHOWER AT LOUIS ARMSTRONG INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. THE FRONT HAS MOVED THROUGH. THIS IS RAIN BEHIND THE FRONT THAT SHOULD BE ENDING BY THE LATE MORNING. THIS COMPUTER MODEL DOESN’T QUITE HAVE THE TIMING JUST RIGHT. WE’RE GOING TO GET AN UPDATE HERE IN ABOUT AN HOUR, AN HOUR AND A HALF. BUT IT GIVES US THE GENERAL IDEA OF HOW THE RAIN SHOULD BE EXITING. PAUSING THINGS HERE AT ABOUT 10:00, 11:00. THIS IS WHY I THINK AT ABOUT 10 OR 11, WE STILL COULD HAVE ONE LINGERING SHOWER FOR FRENCH QUARTER FRERET, BUT AFTERNOON IT SHOULD BE DONE. AND ACTUALLY YOU’LL NOTICE THAT SKIES CLEAR OFF FAIRLY NICELY FOR US BY THE LATER AFTERNOON. HIGH TEMPERATURE, LOW 70S. BUT WITH THAT NORTHERLY WIND, IT’S NOT GOING TO FEEL THAT WARM AT ALL. THEN WE GET CHILLY IN THE MORNING. WE’RE GOING TO BE IN THE 40S. FIRST THING IN THE MORNING, MONDAY ON THE NORTH SHORE SHOULD BE IN THE 50S IN THE METRO. WARMING TREND KICKING IN FOR US MONDAY AFTERNOON. CLOUDS INCREASE JUST A TOUCH, BUT THE HIGH TEMPERATURES SHOULD BE IN THE UPPER 70S. SO SHOWERS ENDING BY LATE THIS MORNING. THEN GRADUAL CLEARING. VERY BREEZY 72 TO 75. NOT FEELING THAT WARM BECAUSE OF THAT GUST OF WIND. GUSTS IN EXCESS OF 25. EVEN 30MPH. MOSTLY CLEAR, BREEZY AND COOL FOR US TONIGHT. TOMORROW MORNING. WAKING UP IN THE 40S ON THE NORTH SHORE. BUT HERE’S THAT WARMER AIR THAT SHOULD MOVE IN BY TOMORROW AFTERNOON. VERY COMFORTABLE AFTERNOON. HIGH TEMPERATURE IN THE MID TO UPPER 70S. MANY PEOPLE I THINK ARE GOING TO BE COMMENTING TOMORROW AROUND THE NOON HOUR. OH, IT’S SO BEAUTIFUL OUT. NICE BREEZE, LOW HUMIDITY. WELL THE HUMIDITY STAYS LOW I THINK THROUGH MIDWEEK DISTURBANCE BRINGS US A CHANCE FOR A COUPLE OF SHOWERS WEDNESDAY INTO THURSDAY. AND IT’S DEFINITELY GETTING WARMER. AND IT’S GETTING MORE HUMID FOR US, ESPECIALLY BY THE END OF THE WEEK. HIGH TEMPERATURES RETURNING
A cold front moved through during the early morning hours on Sunday, and the cooler and drier air will be rushing in all day Sunday. Behind the front we will continue to see scattered showers during the morning, but they should be decreasing by the late morning and ending by noon. Skies will clear somewhat Sunday afternoon, but it will be breezy and cool. The high temperature will make it into the low 70s, but it will feel significantly cooler than that with a northeasterly wind at 10 to 20 mph with some gusts up near 30. Skies stay mainly clear tonight, and that will be a contributing factor to a cold start Monday morning on the North Shore where temperatures will be in the 40s. However, a warming trend will develop by Monday afternoon, where the high temperature should make it into the mid and upper 70s. Humidity stays low through Tuesday, but then a disturbance brings a chance for a few showers Wednesday, and we get significantly warmer by the end of the week and the beginning of next weekend.
