NEW YORK – A rainy forecast has caused the Yankees to push back the start of Sunday afternoon’s scheduled 1:35 p.m. game against the Kansas City Royals.
The gates opened to fans with valid tickets at noon.
According to a Yankees’ statement, “please be advised that we do not anticipate starting today’s game on time due to the current forecast of inclement weather. We will provide an update as more information is received.”
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that Stadium operations personnel will meet again at 12:30 p.m., hopefully providing an approximate time for Sunday’s first pitch.
“Right now, it seems like we’ll probably be in a delay,” said Boone. “But we should be in good shape to play…it looks like it does clear out.”
