Who is PGA Tour golfer Matthew Fitzpatrick married to? Meet Katherine Fitzpatrick

England’s Matthew Fitzpatrick is going for his second PGA Tour title of the season at the RBC Heritage. 

With 18 holes left to play at Harbour Town Golf Links, the Yorkshireman has a three-shot lead over world number one Scottie Scheffler. 

Should Fitzpatrick, 31, enter the winner’s circle this evening it would represent his 13th victory as a professional and fourth PGA Tour title overall. 

His parents Russell and Susan will be cheering on their son outside the gallery ropes this afternoon, as well as his wife Katherine Fitzpatrick.

Who is Matthew Fitzpatrick’s wife?

Katherine Shelby Gaal was born on 15 August 1991 in New Jersey. 

A former pageant star, Katherine is understood to have met Matthew around 2022. 

Details of where and when they first crossed paths is unknown, but they went public with their relationship in January 2023 when Matthew was taking part in annual curtain-raiser on the PGA Tour in Hawaii. 

Later that year, Katherine attended the 2023 Ryder Cup in Italy alongside Matthew.

Europe won the Ryder Cup in Rome and the golfer picked up one point from the three matches he played, teaming up with Rory McIlroy in the four-balls to dismantle US duo Xander Schauffele and Collin Morikawa 5&3. 

One month after the Ryder Cup, Matthew and Katherine announced they were engaged.

Katherine and Matthew tied the knot in Bay Head, New Jersey, at the All Saints Episcopal Church on 18 October 2024. 

According to the Sun, all the tables at the wedding breakfast were named after golf courses. 

Matthew’s younger brother Alex, who is also a professional golfer, was his best man.

They kept details of their wedding day fairly private, but Katherine posted several pictures on her Instagram account.

The couple announced, just 10 days after Matthew won the aforementioned Valspar Championship, that they were expecting their first child. 

Again, the announcement came via social media. They have not revealed if they are expecting a little boy or a girl. 

Katherine thanked Xander Schauffele’s wife, Maya, for capturing the moment. 

Matthew told reporters during the RBC Heritage that Katherine is due to give birth in approximately three months.

And he is yet to have the “oh, s—” moment when it dawns on him that he is going to become a father. 

“[ am] super excited [about it,” he said. 

“I was talking to [fellow pro] Ryan Fox a couple weeks ago and he was saying for nine months that you’re like, yeah, I’m going to be a dad or whatever and it’s kind of the “oh, s—” moment when you’re on the way to the hospital and the baby is on the way. 

“Obviously not had that yet, but all being well, in three months we’ll have a healthy baby so we’ll see.”

What does Katherine Fitzpatrick do for a living?

It’s unclear if Katherine still works.

According to her LinkedIn profile, she attended Penn State University and received a double major in broadcast journalism and general finance. 

She previously worked for Commvault, a New Jersey-based software development company, as a regional marketing manager. 

She has also worked as a tennis professional. 

These days, she is frequently spotted watching Matthew outside the ropes and posting videos on social media of her life on the road.
