Meghan Markle Faces Quiet Snub During Australia Tour

Meghan Markle’s latest Australia visit was meant to highlight her projects and public work, but it quickly took an unexpected turn.

While attending high-profile events with Prince Harry and hosting a pricey Sydney retreat, the duchess quietly faced a setback after a planned meeting with the Irwin family failed to happen.

At the same time, her comments about her “very hard” life, ongoing criticism over commercial moves, and growing scrutiny around the couple’s brand added new tension to the trip.

Meghan Markle’s reported attempt to connect with the Irwin family did not materialize, and the reason has stirred attention.

The Duchess of Sussex had hoped to meet Robert Irwin and his family at Australia Zoo during the trip, but the meeting never happened.

While there was no public fallout, insiders suggested the decision was influenced by the family’s strong ties to the monarchy.

“They meant no ill-will towards the Sussexes, but at the end of the day they are all staunch monarchists and fiercely loyal to The Firm,” an insider revealed to New Idea Magazine per the Daily Mail.

That loyalty reportedly played a key role in the decision. The Irwins have long-standing connections with the Royal Family, including engagements with King Charles and Prince William.

Robert’s role as an ambassador for Prince William’s Earthshot Prize has also strengthened that relationship.

Another insider added simply, “It just wasn’t possible,” highlighting how the situation was handled quietly rather than publicly.

Meghan Markle’s visit drew growing criticism, particularly over how she and Prince Harry blended charity work with commercial appearances.

Their four-day tour included both philanthropic engagements and paid events, which drew mixed reactions.

Critics accused the couple of treating the trip as a business opportunity rather than a purely charitable visit.

At the same time, public opinion appears to be shifting. A poll revealed that a strong majority of Britons opposed the Sussexes using their royal titles for financial gain.

There was also discussion about how quickly Meghan returned to public life after past controversies, with some questioning whether her appearances struck the right tone.

Still, those close to the couple insisted there was no hidden motive.

Meghan’s Sydney event became another talking point, especially after details of what attendees received began circulating.

Guests paid thousands to attend what was billed as the “ultimate girls’ weekend.”

Ticket prices ranged from $2,699 for standard access to $3,199 for VIP packages, which offered closer interactions with Meghan.

However, the contents of the gift bags surprised many. Instead of luxury items, attendees received a mix of mid-range and everyday products, including edible flowers, lip butter, candles, tea, and sweets. The total value came in at under $200.

The contrast between the ticket price and the items raised questions, especially as the event itself was marketed as an exclusive experience.

During the retreat’s gala dinner, Meghan Markle addressed the audience and reflected on her life in the public eye.

She described her experience as both rewarding and challenging, noting that while she has enjoyed “amazing moments,” she has also faced intense scrutiny since marrying Prince Harry.

She told guests she had been “attacked” for years, emphasizing the emotional toll of constant public attention.

The speech offered a glimpse into her perspective, balancing gratitude for her family with frustration over ongoing criticism.

Before she began speaking, Prince Harry reportedly showed visible support, giving his wife a standing ovation as she entered the room.

The moment highlighted the couple’s continued unity amid mounting external pressure.

Meghan Markle’s wardrobe choices during the tour became another focal point, particularly after her outfits were quickly made available for purchase online. Items worn during key appearances, including a visit with survivors of the Bondi terror attack, were uploaded to a fashion platform where Meghan earns a commission from sales.

Items like her shirt, jeans, trainers, sunglasses, and handbag were listed shortly after she was seen publicly. The platform reportedly offers commissions of 10-25 percent, and Meghan is also said to be an investor in the business.

The move drew sharp criticism, with some calling it the clearest example yet of the couple monetizing their royal status.

Royal expert Richard Palmer warned that such actions could raise serious concerns within the palace and even lead to discussions about their titles.

He told the Daily Mail, “This is perhaps the starkest example yet of Harry and Meghan’s efforts to commercialize their royal brand.”

Despite the controversy, Meghan’s engagements during the visit also included emotional moments.

She met with survivors of the Bondi attack and listened to their stories. She also embraced Jessica Chapnik Kahn, who survived while protecting her young daughter. Alongside Prince Harry, she also spoke with first responders, including lifeguards who were present during the tragedy.
