Roman Reigns Expected To Feud With Two Major Names Following WrestleMania 42

Roman Reigns’ path after WrestleMania 42 is starting to come into focus, and it looks like WWE already has two major opponents lined up for The Tribal Chief.

New information from Bodyslam indicates that Gunther and Oba Femi are both expected to be part of Roman Reigns’ upcoming feuds following WrestleMania 42. That lines up with recent speculation that WWE has been planning major matches involving Reigns as the company builds its next phase of top-level rivalries.

Gunther has already been discussed behind the scenes as a major direction for Roman Reigns. While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained that the idea of Reigns facing Gunther has been talked about internally as a major program moving forward.

“The plan is Roman Reigns as champion against Gunther. That was as of a week ago, midweek even.”

Meltzer also noted that the match likely isn’t planned for the immediate future, suggesting WWE may hold it off for one of the year’s biggest events instead of rushing it onto the next premium live event.

“I don’t think it’s for Backlash, maybe SummerSlam, maybe something else.”

He continued by stressing that the match has been viewed internally as a major direction for WWE, not just a passing idea.

“The only thing I was told, which I did know, is that Roman Reigns and Gunther was, as of like a week ago, a big direction that they thought was a big time major match.”

Oba Femi has also stepped directly into Roman Reigns’ orbit following WrestleMania 42. After defeating Brock Lesnar, Femi called out Reigns, and the situation escalated during the WrestleMania post-show when fans began chanting at Reigns about the rising powerhouse.

Reigns didn’t avoid the moment and responded directly to the chants, making it clear he respects what Femi accomplished but believes there’s still more work to be done before stepping into his territory.

“Oba, you’re gonna kill me? See, you still seem a little fresh in this business.”

He continued by explaining that consistency — not just one big win — is what separates contenders from legends.

“You did a big thing tonight—but I’ve done that many times, and I’ve done it with a title on the line. I took it, I defended it. Let’s see how you do through the summer—and then we’ll see if you can step up to the greatest of all time.”

With Gunther positioned as a dominant force and Oba Femi gaining momentum after his WrestleMania win over Brock Lesnar, WWE appears to be stacking Roman Reigns’ schedule with high-profile opponents who could shape the next chapter of his run.

Roman Reigns has already reclaimed championship gold at WrestleMania 42, and now the focus appears to be shifting toward the challengers waiting on the horizon. With two powerhouse names reportedly in line, the next few months could define the direction of WWE’s top championship scene.
