One of this year’s Married At First Sight Australia brides has spoken candidly about ‘life changing’ surgery.
Audiences have been captivated following the latest instalment of the distinctive matchmaking reality programme from Australia. Approximately 18 strangers have participated in the show this year with varied outcomes after walking down the aisle upon meeting for the very first time.
The series has thus far delivered its share of explosive moments. Episodes broadcast on television last week featured days of furious arguments and relentless turmoil as brides and grooms participated in the couples retreat segment of the experiment. This eventually led to yet another tumultuous dinner party which concluded with one bride threatening to reveal damaging text messages.
At the heart of much of this mayhem was Bec Zacharia, who was matched with Danny by the MAFS experts. Following offensive comments on the opening night of the retreat, and her failure to swiftly apologise, she became the focus of condemnation from both audiences and fellow participants.

While she appeared to repair relationships with most of the other women in the programme, home viewers have been curious about other aspects of her private life, reports OK!.
According to Grazia, numerous MAFS enthusiasts have been speculating about the changes that Bec has experienced prior to her appearance on the series. She has reportedly undergone at least two procedures. Recently, she has spoken candidly about her jaw surgery performed by a family member. She revealed: “I was actually born with a jaw, sort of a chin defect. Everyone makes comments about why my mouth is like this or what’s wrong with my jaw, but Uncle Michael had to give me reconstructive jaw surgery when I was 20 or 21.”
‘Uncle Michael’ refers to renowned plastic surgeon Dr Michael Zacharia who even attended his niece’s TV wedding.
Bec continued: “Michael is my uncle. He’s my father’s brother. We’ve got a very, very close family. He’s a huge support. Without him doing [the surgery] for me, I looked a lot different. I’m so happy that I’ve got this sort of jaw and chin now that he’s done for me, because before that it was really bad.
“For my whole life up until my 20s, it was rare that you would see me with my hair up, because I hated my jaw and chin so much. I was essentially born with no chin. It was a huge insecurity for me every day of my life for 20 years. When I was 21, we did it. I know people make really negative comments about my mouth and my jaw, but actually it was a life-changing moment for me – and that’s all thanks to Uncle Michael.”

Fans have been curious about what Bec looked like prior to her surgery. Her Instagram page features several throwback photos and images dating back to around the time of the operation, which could reveal her previous appearance.
This isn’t the only significant transformation Bec has undergone in her life. In her MAFS introduction video, Bec revealed she shed approximately 27kg, which is just over 4 stone, prior to applying for the show.
She confided to Adelaide Now about her weight loss journey: “I hated myself for my whole life, I thought that I was ugly. I went to a therapist, I started working on my mind a lot, and then I went and got into Pilates. I got into weight training and walking 10,000 steps a day.”
Married At First Sight Australia continues at 7.30pm on E4.
