Popular ‘sploshing’ bedroom trend explained as Sydney Sweeney does it nude in Euphoria scene

It’s more common than ever to hear about random people’s preferences in the bedroom and it seems as if the writers of Euphoria have been delving through the depths of Reddit to discover some of the strangest kinks out there.

Now, I don’t want to kink shame anyone, although Sydney Sweeney’s portrayal as a baby in episode one of the hit HBO show’s new series was a little weird, and she’s touched on another bedroom trend in the latest release.

In case you haven’t heard, the 28-year-old actress is portraying an OnlyFans star as Cassie in the new series, despite being married to rich businessman Nate, who is played by Jacob Elordi.

We’ve already seen her dress as a dog and a baby, showing off pretty much everything, but it was a scene featuring some food which no doubt caught a lot of people’s attention, as she dripped ice cream down her body, which no doubt appealed to a lot of people, even if it is a waste of a perfectly good sweet treat.

If you’re not familiar with this particular sex trend, it’s known as ‘sploshing’, and basically sees people incorporate often wet and messy foods into their bedroom activities, even if it makes the clean up even more important before you head off to the land of nod.

Ayesha Hussain, co-creator of Pass The Porn and founder of The Violet, told Men’s Health more about the bizarre bedroom activity: “There are aspects of the mouth being a vessel that are inherently sexual.

“It opens, it’s moist, and when you get aroused, your mouth opens more and gets more lubricated.”

If it sounds like your kind of thing, you can really start where you want and when you want.

“It can be anything: spaghetti, cucumbers, chocolate, etc,” Ayesha said. “Watch every movement, taste every smell, imagine their saliva accumulating, and go from there.”

The bedroom should obviously be a safe place to explore different things with your partner, or partners if you’re in to that sort of thing, and ‘sploshing’ is no different.

“Some people may enjoy being covered in these substances, while others may enjoy covering others or watching others get covered by them,” said D. Justin Lehmiller, a research fellow at the Kinsey Institute.

“Others may just enjoy the physical or tactile sensation of these substances,” he noted.

Vice interviewed a couple named Mary and Tyler back in 2014, who both share the ‘sploshing’ fetish.

They said their favourite foodstuff to use in the bedroom was cake batter, with Tyler saying: “I really enjoy seeing it dripping on a girl, pouring it over her body. It’s a very sexy look, very smooth, the textures are awesome, and they taste good.”

Kink educator Darla Delour added to Glamour: “It’s not about using vegetables as dildos, nor is it adding a splash of whipped cream to your body to spice things up in the bedroom.”

So, the next time you’re at the supermarket and see someone buy nothing but chocolate and ice cream and you start making a judgement about what their night might look like, you may need to think again.

What has Sydney Sweeney said about her nude scenes on Euphoria?

2019

After the first season of Euphoria premieres, Sweeney tells HuffPost: “The thing about the nudity in this show is that it’s not glamorised. It’s not, ‘Oh, here’s a pair of tits.’ It’s just real.

“I had to look at the whole picture of the entirety of the show, and I just fell in love with the rawness and the situations and the emotions that all these characters go through.”

2022

Following the release of the second series, Sweeney reveals that on occasion she pushed back on the levels of nudity director Sam Levinson called for.

Sweeney is no stranger to nude scenes in Euphoria, which she’s starred in since 2019 (HBO)

She tells The Independent: “There are moments where Cassie was supposed to be shirtless and I would tell Sam, ‘I don’t really think that’s necessary here.’ He was like, ‘OK, we don’t need it’.

“I’ve never felt like Sam has pushed it on me. When I didn’t want to do it, he didn’t make me.”

Around the same time, she also calls out the double standard around nude scenes, telling Cosmopolitan: “There are hour-long compilations of world-famous male actors with nude scenes who win Oscars and get praised for that work. But the moment a woman does it, it degrades them.”

2023

The following year, Sweeney also reveals that fans are trolling her online with screenshots of Cassie’s nude scenes.

She tells The Sun: “It got to the point where they were tagging my family. My cousins don’t need that. It’s completely disgusting and unfair

She said she thinks the ‘female body is a powerful thing’ (HBO)

“You have a character that goes through the scrutiny of being a sexualised person at school and then an audience that does the same thing.”

2025

In spite of the trolling over her nude scenes and the sexism she’s come up against, Sweeney says she’s not hesitant to perform nude scenes when a script calls for it.

She tells W Magazine: “I don’t get nervous. I think that the female body is a very powerful thing. And I’m telling my character’s story, so I owe it to them to tell it well and to do what needs to be done.”
