MLB scouts paint dreary picture with Mets in need of turnaround

Not even a month into the regular season and it sure seems like the Mets season is just about over.
Owners of an 11-game losing streak and tied with the Royals — who just stunk up Yankee Stadium for three days — for the worst record in the majors heading into Monday, the Mets don’t appear to have much reason for optimism.
But if the Mets aren’t going to fold completely, this next nine-game stretch — with three straight series at home against teams that they are clearly supposed to be better than — would be the time for a turnaround.
The problem, at least according to some scouts and executives, is that it may already be too late.
