’Today’ Fans Rally Around Hoda Kotb After She Revealed Emotional Career News

Fans learned that former Today show star Hoda Kotb will be the commencement speaker at Fordham University’s 2026 graduation ceremony.
Hoda was previously a commencement speaker at Tulane University in 2016.
It looks like Hoda Kotb is taking the stage to inspire people in an entirely new way.
Throughout her time as a co-host on the Today show and as CEO of her wellness brand, Joy 101, folks loved hearing Hoda’s wisdom. And given how she’s experienced quite a bit over the years, including battling cancer, adopting her two daughters, divorce, and plenty more, it makes sense she’d want to share what she’s learned with others.
According to an Instagram announcement on April 16, she’s doing just that. In the post, folks learned Hoda was selected as the commencement speaker for Fordham University’s 2026 graduation ceremony, which is set to be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026. Along with delivering her speech, Hoda will also be awarded an honorary degree.
“We are proud to announce that our 181st Commencement Speaker is Hoda Kotb!” the caption read alongside a photo of her. “Celebrated broadcaster, bestselling author, and CEO Hoda Kotb will receive an honorary degree at Fordham University’s 181st Commencement on May 16 at the Rose Hill campus. A celebrated journalist and trailblazer, Kotb has informed and uplifted the public throughout her distinguished career, from her iconic years at NBC’s TODAY to her leadership in the wellness space. She will share words of wisdom and inspiration with the Class of 2026 as they celebrate this milestone moment.”
As soon as people heard about Hoda’s emotional career update, they flocked to the comments.

This isn’t the only time Hoda has had a role like this. She gave the commencement speech at Tulane University in May 2016, in which she shared the 10 things she thought every graduate needed to be successful throughout their lives.
As Hoda shared in an official press release from the college, she’s thrilled about the new gig.
“It’s an honor to be asked to speak at Fordham’s commencement ceremony,” she said. “As someone who believes in the power of perseverance and new beginnings, I’m excited to be part of an event that celebrates hard work, optimism, and the joy that the future can bring. I can’t wait to personally congratulate the Class of 2026 on all they have achieved.”
