Shelter in place issued, road closed due to reported chemical spill

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – Dispatchers say MacCorkle Avenue is now back open for all traffic from St. Albans to South Charleston.
They also say the shelter in place has been lifted in St. Albans and South Charleston after working with emergency management.

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – Dispatchers from Kanawha County say a shelter in place has been issued within a 1 mile radius near Catalyst Refiners in Institute.
This spans from West Virginia State University to the Nitro/St. Albans Bridge on both the Route 25 and Route 60 side of the river.
MacCorkle Avenue is also closed from Roxbury Street in South Charleston to Walnut Street in St. Albans.

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A road in Kanawha County is shut down due to a chemical emergency reported at a plant around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to dispatchers.
1st Avenue South in Institute from New Goff Mountain Road to Kilowatt Road is currently closed.
Drivers are asked to avoid the area if possible.
A WSAZ crew is on their way to the scene.
No other information is known at this time.
