Bimota BSB rider taken to hospital after Oulton Park test crash

Bimota BSB rider Joe Talbot was taken to hospital after crashing during the BSB test at Oulton Park.
Talbot crashed at turn one at Oulton Park, bringing out the red flags in the second session of the final day of the test. The 22-year-old was transferred to Stoke Hospital after receiving an initial assessment at the circuit medical centre.
“Joe Talbot crashed heavily at Old Hall Corner after suffering an apparent technical problem,” the British Superbike Championship wrote in a statement posted to its official Instagram page.
“He was conscious and taken to the medical centre for initial assessment for concussion and back pain and then transferred to Stoke Hospital.”

Talbot had set his best time of the test so far in session two before he crashed. The session never restarted and he ended sixth on the time sheets. 2026 is due to be his rookie season in BSB, although he made his debut in the class at Donington Park last September where he replaced Lee Jackson at the DAO Honda team.

Kyle Ryde was fastest in the second test session of day two with a 1m33.524s that is so far the fastest time of the test overall. For Ryde, as well as his teammate Glenn Irwin and PBM’s Scott Redding, the Oulton Park test is the first of the year aboard his 2026 race bike. He rode at Donington Park, topping the first day, but aboard a stock version of the Ducati Panigale V4 R.
The day one times were topped by Storm Stacey, also on a Ducati, although it was McAMS Yamaha’s Bradley Ray who was fastest in the first session of day two, as well as in the first two sessions of day one.
The 2026 British Superbike Championship is due to start on 3–5 May at Oulton Park.
