Edina police asking public to avoid area near Southdale Center for active incident

There is a large police presence in the area of Southdale Center in Edina due to an active incident, and several nearby buildings are locked down.
Edina police are asking the public to avoid the area near West 66th Street and York Avenue South until further notice.
At this time, police haven’t shared any more details regarding the incident but 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS has a crew at the scene and is working to gather more information.
What we know
Multiple law enforcement agencies are currently at the scene, including police from Edina, Eden Prairie, St. Louis Park and others. SWAT teams were also spotted.
5 EYEWITNESS NEWS saw police K-9 units apparently searching around multiple buildings in the area.
5 EYEWITNESS NEWS also confirmed that police requested the mall to go into lockdown temporarily. At this time, both the mall and M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital are locked down, and several other nearby buildings are taking similar precautions.
The State Patrol is also detouring traffic away from the area, traffic cameras show.
