Man in 70s dies in house fire in city suburb

An investigation is under way after a man in his 70s died in a house fire.
Firefighters were called to Cranwell Drive in Burnage, Manchester, at 16:40 BST on Thursday.
Crews from three stations in Withington, Whitehill and Stockport attended and were on scene for about two-and-a-half hours, Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service (GMFRS) said.
Greater Manchester Police said the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
