Suspect In Custody After 2 Police Officers Shot At Swedish Hospital: Reports

LINCOLN SQUARE — A person was taken into custody after two police officers were shot Saturday morning at Swedish Hospital, authorities said.
The person was in custody by about 12:20 p.m. after a short manhunt, according to NBC5.
A source told Block Club that an officer was transporting a patient at the hospital when the patient disarmed the officer and opened fire. One officer was dead on the scene and another was critically injured, the source said.
The shooting happened shortly before 11 a.m. Ald. Andre Vasquez (40th), whose ward includes the hospital, emailed neighbors to warn there had been an active shooter situation at the hospital, “with multiple shots fired and two officers shot, one in critical condition.”
Police on the scene confirmed that two officers were shot and taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital, but had no further information about their conditions.
Vasquez warned neighbors to shelter in place and avoid the area around the hospital.
Police and SWAT team members could be seen around the hospital in the 2600 block of West Winona Street.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
