Videos posted on social media show a car on fire outside the PSNI base in the Kingsway area, in the outskirts of west Belfast.

Unconfirmed reports indicate a car was hijacked in the area prior to the blast, which was heard across the city shortly after 11pm on Saturday night.

There are currently no reports of any injuries.

In a statement, the PSNI said: “Police are currently at the scene of a security alert in the Kingsway area of Dunmurry this morning, Sunday, 26thApril.
