Penticton Vees continue their playoff quest on home ice this coming week.

The Penticton Vees are continuing their playoff battle against the Everett Silvertips with one more loss.

The Vees had more shots on net in the first period but the Silvertips managed to score twice.

The Vees scored once, leaving them 2-1 in the hole heading into the second period.

They battled back quickly, tying the game less than halfway through the second period and continuing to outshoot the Silvertips.

Then the Silvertips nabbed a power play goal with roughly four minutes left in the period, making the game 3-2 in favour of Everett.

Penticton couldn’t find the back of the net before the period ended, heading to the locker room down one goal.

They came back fighting when the third period began, scoring within three minutes to make the score 3-3.

But Everett had an answer with roughly seven minutes left in the period, scoring to make it 4-3.

Vees head coach Fred Harbinson pulled their goalie with a little over two minutes to go, giving Penticton a six-on-five advantage for a final push.

They scored with 56 seconds left on the clock, tying the game 4-4 and sending the game to overtime.

Vees goalie AJ Reyelts had stop after stop in the first overtime period, as the Silvertips vastly outshot the Vees.

Nobody managed to get the puck past either team’s netminder, sending the game into a second overtime period.

With both teams tired heading into their fifth period of hockey, the Vees earned a delay of game penalty just a few minutes in.

That power play was enough to get Everett a goal, making it 5-4 for the Silvertips.

The best-of-seven series now stands at 2-0 in favour of Everett, leaving the Vees with some ground to gather back.

The next matchup between the teams is Monday night on Vees home ice at the South Okanagan Events Center. For more information and tickets click here.
