These are the shoes Sebastian Sawe wore to run sub-2 at the 2026 London Marathon

It was only revealed a few days ago and yet the Adidas Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3 is now a record breaker.

Adorning the feet of Sabastian Sawe as he powered his way to a sub-2 hour marathon and new world record at the 2026 London Marathon, this is the lightest racing shoe from Adidas ever, weighing in at an average of just over 97 grams.

Designed to give runners that extra edge on race day, Adidas state that the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3 is the result of three years of intense research and this result from Sawe will make all the R&D worthwhile.

It’s 30% lighter than the previous iteration of the shoe and with 1.6% more running economy. It also has a 39mm stack, maximising the cushioning and energy return with every step.

The major change from the Pro Evo 2 is the carbon technology in the shoe has been totally redesigned; gone are the Energy Rods and they’ve been replaced by ENERGYGRIM, which integrates the carbon into the design and reimagines how stiffness and propulsion look in a supershoe.

Stephan Scholten, adidas’ VP of product said, “Our goal was two digits on the scale, with better performance than we’ve ever had.” The shoe has been made with next-generation Lightstrile Pro Evo foam, the brand’s lightest and most responsive foam to date, and nearly 50% lighter than previous versions of the shoe.

The design of the upper was inspired by kitesurfing sails, with a weightless feel that still provides the necessary support. The strategically placed Continental rubber in the forefoot provides the traction you need when running at fast speed, without compromising on weight.
