Rashid Khan and Manav Suthar made a comical catching error when Gujarat Titans locked horns with the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2026 match on Sunday, April 26 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. In the 18th over of CSK’s innings, Kartik Sharma got a let off after a terrible error of judgement from Rashid and Suthar.

Kagiso Rabada bowled a short-of-length delivery outside off, and Kartik Sharma went for the pull shot. However, he didn’t time it well, sending the ball high towards square leg. Manav Suthar and Rashid Khan converged from deep backward square and deep mid-wicket respectively, but failed to communicate. Both hesitated, expecting the other to take it, and the ball ran away for four.
PAKISTAN LIKE FIELDING ERROR
Rashid and Suthar’s fielding error reminded us of the blunder Shoaib Malik and Saeed Ajmal made for Pakistan back in 2008 against the West Indies at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. After West Indies were asked to chase down 274, Umar Gul produced a chance to dismiss Chris Gayle, but Malik and Ajmal let the chance go begging.
On the second ball of the sixth over, Gul bowled a fuller delivery on off stump and Gayle went for a big shot. However, he failed to get hold of it, and the ball went high into the night sky. Ajmal ran in from mid-on while Malik also closed in. Ajmal got under it but, for some reason, backed away, and the ball dropped between the two.
Meanwhile, for Rashid, it wasn’t just the fielding error, he also endured a forgettable outing with the ball. He bowled just one over, conceding 21 runs after being taken apart by Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dube. Suthar, on the other hand, was fairly effective, picking up the wicket of Dewald Brevis and conceding only 22 runs from his three overs.
