Flagship regatta returns to River Avon for bank holiday

Taking place on Saturday, May 2, and Sunday, May 3, the regatta will fill the Early May Bank Holiday with colour and competition as more than 400 crews from across the UK gather for racing on the River Avon.

On Saturday, crews will compete along a 1,000-metre course, followed by a fast-paced 500-metre super sprint on Sunday.

Simon Edwards, chairman of Evesham Rowing Club, said: “Following the success of last year’s Evesham Regatta, we’re looking forward to another outstanding weekend both on and off the water.

“It’s a true flagship event for the town, filling Crown Meadow and Abbey Park with spectators and creating a fantastic atmosphere.”

He added: “The regatta brings a real economic boost to Evesham, as hundreds of athletes, coaches, families and supporters visit for the weekend, many staying locally and enjoying everything the town has to offer.”

Evesham Rowing Club is encouraging residents to join in the fun and hospitality, and is also calling on local businesses to help make the event a success.

The regatta is one of the club’s main fundraising events, supporting the upkeep and development of the club, which has been part of the town’s sporting life since 1863.

Mr Edwards said: “By coming along to spectate or supporting the Evesham Regatta as a local businesses you can help to preserve and strengthen a historic community institution for generations to come.

“On the day sponsors are invited to enjoy all the thrills and spills of the Regatta from the club’s private riverside enclosure, with access to a VIP marquee offering refreshments, lunch, and one of the best views of the racing.”

Sponsorship packages offer businesses the chance to raise their profile with a large, engaged audience and benefit from a range of high-visibility opportunities. Long-term partnership options are also available.
